About Us

P.S. 128 The Bensonhurst School: Where Students Become Leaders!

At The Bensonhurst School, we celebrate every student and family. We are a diverse, welcoming community with families from all over the globe. Our students leave here as lifelong learners prepared for success in middle school, high school, and beyond. Here, you will find:

  • A “whole-child” approach to education that supports the academic, social, emotional, physical, and creative needs of our students.
  • A focus on leadership skills and good habits through our Leader in Me program.
  • High expectations for every student—and extra support for students who need help meeting them.
  • Plenty of supports for students and families learning English as a Second Language.

Our Community

We are proud to be a community hub in a vibrant and diverse community in southwestern Brooklyn. Our families represent many different cultural backgrounds, language traditions, and countries of origin, and we celebrate them all! We offer extra support for families new to our country. We also host events to bring our community together and celebrate our diverse backgrounds.

Our Facility

We are located in a historic building in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn. Built in 1900, P.S. 128 retains many of its historic charms. Due to our status as a historical site, our building is not fully accessible to students requiring elevators or ramps.

Our Mission

At P.S.128, we recognize the unique talents and aspirations of each child, and we are committed to helping our children become productive, compassionate, innovative, knowledgeable, self-sufficient learners and citizens. We cultivate creativity and independence within each child through forging a safe and nurturing community that inspires each scholar to strive for excellence. We encourage students to courageously take risks, to face challenges with integrity, and to always dream big.
