At P.S. 128 we are looking forward to a wonderful, successful year! As your Parent Coordinator, I am here to address any questions or concerns you may have about your child's education. We strongly encourage parent/guardian involvement so we hope you will attend our family workshops and all other invited events. Get Alerts Right to Your Phone
We are excited to announce that we will continue to use the FREE eChalk Notify app to bring updates right to your phone. Get immediate updates on school closings, re-openings, and other emergency information. Here's how:
1. Download "eChalk Notify" app for free from the Apple App Store (iPhone) or the Google Play Store (Android)
2. Click on "Proceed without logging in" when prompted for your email address (do not actually enter your email address.)

NYC Schools Account
NYC Schools Account
The NYC Department of Education is requesting that all NYC Public School students have a NYC Schools Account. In this account, you will be able to view your child's state exam scores, attendance, grades, reading level, Fitnessgram results, report cards, and much more.
How to create a NYC Schools Account
You will need the Account Creation Code that in previous years has been sent home with your child if they attended PS 128 prior to Sept. 2022 and mailed to homes in October 2020, to all PS 128 families who at that time did not have a NYC Schools Account.
You will need this code and your child’s 9-digit student ID number to create an NYC Schools Account or to add additional children to an existing account.
1. Visit https://mystudent.nyc/ and select the “Create account” link on the login page.
2. Enter your email address and create a new password.
3. Upon signing in for the first time, you will need to select and answer three security questions and
validate your email address.
4. Enter your child’s 9-digitstudent ID number. You can find your child’s ID number on their report
card. If you do not have your child’s ID number, please contact me or the main office.
5. Enter the unique Account Creation Code.

Parent University
Parent University educates and empowers families with free courses, resources, events, and activities. Parents/guardians can register for free trainings on a wide variety of topics, including remote learning and technology, student social-emotional learning, and special education. HEAP Cooling Assistance Benefit
The 2024-2025 Cooling Assistance Benefit is open for applications. Eligible households can get help buying and installing an air conditioner or fan. You may qualify if you meet income limits or get SNAP, Temporary Assistance (TA,) or certain Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. You may also qualify if someone in your home has a heat-related medical condition or is vulnerable due to age (60T or under 6.) Only one unit is allowed per household. The cost limit is $800.00 for a window or portable unit, or $1,000 for a wall sleeve unit. You must not have received a HEAP-funded air conditioner in the last 5 years. If based in NYC, you may apply online at access.nyc.gov.
Middle School Admissions Process 2025-2026
The Middle School Admissions Process for all 5th grade students is scheduled to begin early Fall 2025.
Please know that this process consists of several steps in choosing and applying to middle schools. All 5th grade students are to complete an online application, regardless of what NYC Public School you would like your child to be considered for. When the application becomes available, families will receive a letter from the Department of Education, Office of Enrollment, with instructions for the first step. If I have access to these letters, I will send home a copy with your child. P.S.128, as well as the Office of Student Enrollment will host information sessions on the middle school admissions process. At this time, it is not confirmed if they will be virtual, hybrid, or in-person. The dates and times are to be determined.

D21 Middle School Fair 2025-2026
D21 will host a Middle School Fair in early Fall. Individual middle schools will also host an open house in their buildings. I strongly encourage all 5th grade families to attend. You will be able to ask staff and students at the attending schools any questions you may have to assist you in choosing a middle school. Fourth grade families are welcomed to attend so you will be informed for next year. Invite and further information will be forthcoming. STAY TUNED!
D21 Middle School Open Houses
To assist you in choosing a middle school for your child, besides the Middle School Fair, individual middle schools will host their own open houses in their building. I strongly encourage you to attend the fair and open houses, where there will be staff and students to answer any questions you and/or your child may have. I will inform you of the locations, dates, and times as soon as I receive this information.
Middle School Admissions Process Workshop 2025-2026
Please stay tuned for an invite as P.S. 128 partners with the NYC Dept. of Education's Office of Enrollment to host virtual workshops for families on the Middle School Admissions Process. The workshops will be very informative. All 5th grade students must complete an online application. I will be informed on a daily basis from the NYC Dept. of Education as to who has not created a MySchools acoount and/or submitted an application. Please make sure to read all and any alerts you may receive while completing the application as the alerts will guide you as to what to do or not do. If I may be of any assistance please contact me.
NYC Kids Rise Save for College Program
IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO SAVE AND PLAN FOR YOUR CHILD'S FUTURE
The NYC Kids Rise Save for College Program is a scholarship and savings program for every kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade students enrolled in a NYC public school regardless of family's income or immigration status. Through this program every new kindergartener is automatically enrolled and will receive a Welcome Kit with detailed information, and a NYC Scholarship Account with an initial $100.00 allocation. If you would like your Kindergartner to participate in this program you will be notified when you may activate their account. When your child's account becomes available for activation, please visit https://nyckidsrise.org/ where you will click on activate account, and follow the prompts. Amongst other information you will need to enter, you will need your child's student ID# which may be obtained from the office or myself. If you choose not to participate in this program, you will need to complete an opt out form which will be available in the Fall of the new school year. In the new school year, we and the sponsor of this program, NYC Kids Rise, will host information sessions. Stay tuned for dates and times. Character Costume Drive
We are accepting new & lightly used cleaned costume donations throughout the school year. No masks or weapons .You may donate all school year long. If your child is in need of a character costume, please call Rose Ann Montemurro, Parent Coordinator at 718-373-5900 or 929-617-5167. Hopefully we will have one to offer your child.
Literacy Character Day 2025
On Friday, October 31, 2025, P.S. 128 will celebrate Literary Character Day. Students dressed as their favorite character from a book will parade up and down 84th street, carrying the book or book cover. Parents/guardians will be invited to stand along 84th street to cheer on all students. No costume masks or weapons will be allowed. A notice will be sent home with your chid.
P.S. 128 Thanksgiving Parade
The week of Thanksgiving 2025, date to be determined, starting at 8:30am, students will parade in front of our school displaying a poster or small float they will create individually or as a class showing what they are thankful for. Parents/Guardians will be invited to watch. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER INFORMATION!
Coffee Talk
Throughout the school year, we will host our monthly Coffee Talk at 8:30 am. Please join us for a light breakfast as we all share our thoughts, concerns, and suggestions to support the families, students, and staff of P.S. 128. Attending our workshops will help you to help your child with their education. A notice will be sent home each month with date and room number.

Picture Day 2025
SMILE! Picture Day for all students is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025. Order forms will be sent home. Only students who have a completed order form and payment will be able to take their picture.
P.S. 128 Food Drive 2025
We are excited to once again partner with City Harvest and the Daily News to host a food drive at our school in the Fall. Families may drop off their donations in the Main Lobby or students may bring them to school. Dates to be determined.

Lost & Found
Located in our main lobby is our lost & found. Throughout the school year many articles of clothing, accessories, lunch boxes, etc. are left at our lost and found. If your child loses anything during the school year, please have them or you look in our lost & found. If you would like to visit our lost & found, please speak with Mrs. Montemurro, Parent Coordinator and/or the school Safety Agent.

Summer Rising Results
If you applied to Summer Rising, please make sure to check your MySchools account for results. Families have until Thursday, May 8, 2025, to accept their offer. You may also add your child to the waitlist of schools that you would like your child to attend. If and when you receive an offer from the waitlist you will have one week to accept or decline. Accepting a waitlist offer will switch original offer to decline, and the waitlist offer to accept. Good Luck to all those who have applied.
